US Virgin Islands born artist, producer and all around creative, Prya has been pioneering Caribbean urban music for the better part of a decade.
Originally a part of St.Croix rap group “Deh Fam”, Prya set off to blaze his own path, moving to Atlanta, GA in 2014. Prya’s first solo release was his 2015 single “Back Home in a Dream”, which also has a remix featuring Pressure and R.City. Continuing the momentum he released his “Baggage Claim” EP in December 2015. January 2016 saw the release of “No L's” a viral diss track that became a cult classic. He then followed up with “From Lang", a clever play on words and dialect, that easiest translates to ‘from the jump’. Both became part of his “Keep Left” EP released the same year. The Dan (island slang for Don) then released his biggest single to date, “Yessah”, which he co-produced alongside Turf Life Music in 2017. The single and video quickly became a summer anthem and currently boasts over 300,000 combined views and streams. Recently Prya has shown his versatility by releasing an Afrobeat influenced single titled “Yo Yo Yo” inspired by a 2018 visit to Ethiopia. His upcoming EP “Maisha Mema”, which translates to “The Good Life” in Swahili will deeper explore the fusion of American Hip-Hop with Afro-Caribbean music.
